Dean is five weeks into his stay at Triple Care Farm. He grew up in a small town in Victoria and has lived there is whole life. Dean is 23 years old.

Dean’s* father is an alcoholic. This led to his parent’s divorce when Dean was 15 years old. It was “messy” he explains.

Drugs became a way for him to cope with the pain. Binge drinking drowned out his sorrows and he was later introduced to crystal methamphetamine which took a hold of him like nothing else.

Eventually he became heavily involved in drug dealing and was able to earn enough money to move out of home and live with some mates in a flat across town. For the past 3 years he has been dealing drugs.

Triple Care Farm is the second rehabilitation that Dean has attended. The first one was too close to his hometown and it made change difficult because he would constantly bump into people who knew him as a drug dealer. Thanks to you, he was able to find refuge at Triple Care Farm. He knew that he needed to go somewhere that was more secluded.

He wants to get a “proper job” as a forklift driver but admits that he doesn’t have the self-control to start earning money again without using it on drugs. This is his goal at the Farm – to not only gain a forklift licence, but to gain the coping skills necessary to be able to earn money and stay off drugs forever.

Thank you for giving Dean this opportunity!
