Father to a little boy and heavily using drugs, it was time for Ben to turn his life around. He was desperate for help and knew that he needed to make some big changes, but he needed the right support. Triple Care Farm welcomed him with open arms!
Entering the Program Ben said “I was having relationship problems. The pot was messing with my mind. My family was worried about me, my health and where I was going to end up in the long run. I decided to have a better life.”
Ben achieved many goals whilst at the Farm, many of which we would take for granted like ironing clothes, to larger ones like mending broken relationships with family members. Another goal that Ben mentioned was that he wanted to enrol in a motorbike mechanic course at TAFE after graduating from Triple Care Farm.
The 12 weeks at the Farm was a life changing experience. It was an emotional day at the Graduation Ceremony where he was able to share his achievements with friends and family and reflect on how far he had come. Here he was awarded a $500 scholarship from Sir David Martin Foundation to pursue his studies.
A few months after graduation, Ben was accepted to start a pre apprenticeship at TAFE where he was able to use his scholarship money for tools that he needed for the course. Ben was then offered a full apprenticeship with a mechanics company.
Since then he has started his own motor mechanics business and has regained a fantastic relationship with his family. Most importantly, his little boy has his father back.
His story shows that with the right support and a lot of determination, great things can be achieved. Thank you for supporting young people like Ben who have made the brave decision to change their lives.
