Our kind friends aboard HMAS Darwin organised a charity auction to raise money for Sir David Martin Foundation whilst at sea.

charity-auction-mainLast month we wrote an article about creative fundraising ideas in order to inspire people to sign up and raise funds for our upcoming Abseil for Youth event.

While on the topic of creative fundraising, we wanted to share with you what our friends over at HMAS Darwin have done to raise money for Sir David Martin Foundation and youth in crisis.

Some of the Navy personal (including ABCSO Jarryd Boyd, LSET Stuart Nichols, POCSS Kurt Morris and CPOCSM Mark McLure) organised an auction of donated sporting memorabilia from various Australian sporting teams. The goods were auctioned amongst the sailors and raised a whopping $8000.

What makes this even more remarkable is that HMAS Darwin is currently on deployment in the Middle East, making this auction a logistical feat!

On behalf of the young people we help, a huge thank you to all involved in this tremendous effort.
