There are so many options for fundraising: challenging yourself, celebrating with your community or honouring a loved one.

A few ideas for your fundraiser could be:

  • Birthdays
  • Gifts in memory or in celebration
  • Setting a physical challenge or goal for yourself
  • Joining or hosting an event

Whatever you would like to do, we would love to know.

Birthday fundraisers

Asking for donations in lieu of gifts can be a meaningful way to celebrate your birthday.

Around two weeks before your birthday, you will receive a message from Facebook in your news feed giving you the option to create a fundraiser for your birthday – from there, you can select Sir David Martin Foundation.

Fundraising tips

  • Flesh out your fundraising profile with details. The more information you share with your friends and family, the more likely people will be to contribute.
  • Set an ambitious but practical goal amount for your fundraiser.
  • Make sure you include an image (the more emotive the better)
  • Make it personal. Include real stories and tell your friends and family why the fundraiser is important to you.
  • Promote your fundraiser on and off Facebook. Share regular updates on all your social media accounts and with your friends and family in real life.
  • Set a timeframe. Having a sense of urgency helps people to donate now rather than
  • Say thank you. Thank everyone who has donated once your fundraiser is over and tell them the total amount you have raised.
