The Program

Welding course

To complete the program students must complete the component task list as set out in a workbook they all receive at the beginning of the program called 'My Journey.' There are five program components which are divided into three stages as outlined below.

Gateway: Focusses on assesing the students needs, introducing them to the concept of setting goals and stabilising the student in the program. This stage is about engaging the young person in the program, building up a relationship and trust and developing the goals that the student would like to achieve while at the Farm. Counselling needs are also identified in this stage.

Explorer: By this stage of the program the student has shown commitment to the program and a desire to continue working on the goals they set for themselves. Students begin to develop their placement plan in this stage and work through counselling needs.

Outbound: Outbound is about assisting the student to move back into the community. In this stage, the counselling concludes and the main focus is on developing and implementing a long-term placement plan. In Outbound the young person also has the opportunity to attend a work experience placement.
