The 3rd Annual National Juvenile Justice Summit returns to Melbourne this March, with an exciting line-up of high-level speakers to re-examine the current trends and practices in Juvenile Justice across Australia.

Location:
Rendezvous Hotel Melbourne
Date:
Wednesday, 28 March 2012
Time:
From 8.30 am

The National Juvenile Justice Summit will draw together a cross section of youth justice leaders including state government representatives, judiciary, police, youth justice advocates and researchers, each delivering their insight on the current and critical issues in juvenile justice.

This expert-led event will explore innovative models for early intervention and diversion, current bail and sentencing reforms, reforms for juvenile detention services and post-transitional support programs.

Key aspects to be discussed include:

  • The transition from state care to state detention
  • State by state updates of their approach and frameworks towards juvenile justice
  • Case study presentations on programs working to assist young people and educate them with life skills, confidence and culture
  • Diversioning and preventative programs and the successes and failures of different approaches to juvenile justice
  • Focus on school and police perspectives, initiatives and programs

An interactive workshop will follows the conference, entitled Restorative Justice: Youth Justice Group Conferencing and Beyond

Various packages are available both to the conference, and the associated workshops.
