We are once again encouraging you to Cook for a Cause®

Throughout the month of August we will be holding our annual

Cook for a Cause® event.

To raise essential funds for Sir David Martin Foundation to help 'youth in crisis' by sharing a meal with your friends and family. Take the time to sit down around the dinner table with your loved ones to eat, laugh and communicate.

This year we have also invited a number of local restaurants to be involved with the campaign and we will soon be releasing the details of how you can support us and participating restaurants.

Research conducted by The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University over a decade consistently found that the more often children have dinner with their parents, the less likely they are to smoke, drink or use drugs. Download the full report here.

Simply put: Dinner makes a difference.

Open up the communication lines for discussions about mental health issues, drug and alcohol awareness and other youth issues that may be affecting the people you care about.

Host a dinner party, Sunday BBQ or even a high tea! The choice is yours. Be creative!

The 14th annual 'back-to-school survey' continues CASA’s unique effort to track attitudes of teens and those, like parents, who influence them. Through this survey we have identified factors that increase or decrease the likelihood of teen substance abuse. Armed with this knowledge, parents, teachers, clergy, coaches and other responsible adults have been better able to help our nation’s teens grow up drug free.
