Watching the Wallabies

Wallabies

June 9th 2009 Griffith Oval Canberra

“Watching the Qantas Wallabies”

Thanks to our Ambassador Jim Williams (Assistant Coach of the Qantas Wallabies), The Foundation and students at Triple Care Farm were invited to be ‘exclusive observers’ at the Italy V’s Australia test match training run. The 9.30 training was prior to the naming of the team at 1pm. This is a privileged moment as Triple Care Farm students were all watching and listening to Australia’s planned attack for Saturday night.

The morning was bleak and the sleet was falling, but nothing would ruin this day for the students. They had saved their money for weeks to purchase jerseys and footballs for their favourite players to sign.

After the run Jim Williams, Lote Tuqiri, Phil Waugh, Timana Tahu, Stirling Mortlock and the rest of the team spent about an hour chatting with the young students. The players were genuinely interested in Triple Care Farm and the journey these young Australians have been on.

The day ended appropriately with a visit to the, National Museum to see the Pacific Islander exhibition. One of our Students, still clinging to his signed Australian Jersey said “This is the best day I have ever had in my life”.

Go the Wallabies!!!
