24 Hays delegates from across Australia swapped suits for overalls when they headed down to Robertson to meet the students of Triple Care Farm.
This visit was part of a week-long strategic planning session to try and increase the revenue available to the Foundation. Hays and Sir David Martin Foundation were matched up by Bridge Partnership Australia, who have been working with Hays to enhance their leadership skills.
The Hays delegates spoke with staff members, donors, board members and government officials to gather a better understanding of the factors that impact on the charity. The key challenges they assessed were the barriers to increasing the scale of the program, by expanding the current funding model.
The highlights of the week were Tuesday and Friday, when the delegates were finally able to meet the students at the farm. Tuesday was immersion day, where Hays got their first chance to see the farm.
Friday finished up the week with a Pizza making competition where students and delegates worked together to create the best culinary creation and musicians took part in a group drumming session.
It was a great opportunity for the delegates to see first-hand, the experiences of the young people and the great work that happens at the farm. The day had a profound and lifelong effect on both the Hays delegates and the young people.
Hays has now extended their support of the Foundation by establishing a scholarship program which will support 2 young people each year, for which we are most grateful.
We would like to thank Hays for all their hard work and look forward to working with them closely in the future.
