POET Tom Power rode an incredible 10 hours in the saddle at HMAS Kuttabul to promote his grueling ride across the Gibb River Road. Tom is raising money for the Sir David Martin Foundation as he rides his mountain bike using only pedal power for 741km along a corregated dirt road.
The ride should take him 5 days in scorching heat in the outback we wish him the best of luck. You can encourage Tom to ride by donating to his ride.

Day 2 - Silent Grove to Mount Elizabeth Homestead - 115 km's

Monday 12th May, ABC Reports "Riders in the second annual Gibb River Road Mountain Bike Challenge have hit the road in the Kimberley town of Derby this morning. The five-day team event will see 170 cyclists from across Australia make the 700 kilometre journey from Derby to Kununurra.
To enter the challenge, teams had to raise at least $1,000 for charity with half the money raised going towards Western Australia Police Legacy. Participants have nominated a charity of their choice to get the other half. Event founder and participant Simon Rimmer says benefits of doing the event are worth the pain involved.
We're looking at about 740 kilometres, most of it dusty, rutted, corrugated super highway of the Kimberley," he said. "I spent a savage first day in the saddle last year and learnt from it, so I changed seats day two and found something a little more comfortable. But yes, it's a tough little ride."
We wish Tom well "all power to you"
