Jim Williams on Elite Footballers

Jim Williams

Assistant Wallabies Coach and Sir David Martin Foundation Ambassador, Jim Williams, believes all high-profile athletes need to be aware they are role models in society. Jim Williams and Wallabies Coach, Robbie Deans, have educated the Wallabies to ensure they are aware of the consequences of negative actions. This comes after the alcohol-inspired incident of another NRL team recently.

Jim Williams recognizes that attitudes to alcohol consumption need to be discussed.
“When footballers are in the public eye they have to behave, it is that simple,” he said. “Everyone likes to have a god time but these guys need to be aware their actions are always monitored. They have responsibilities to uphold and they should take pride in the way they live their lives.”

Williams welcomed the concept of introducing women and families at social functions. “If anyone has balance and stability in their life the chances of them misbehaving are reduced,” he said. “A solution from a collective unit is required or problems will continue.”
