Handy Surgery for Student

Shane and Wallabies

The Foundation received a letter of thanks this week from one of our students. This young boy was enduring strong pain in his hand for some time and had been self medicating to gain relief from that pain. After living on the streets and now struggling with an addiction, he sought help from Triple Care Farm. His ability to break the cycle of pain and drugs was dependent on surgery from a specialist at a cost of $5,000. With the remarkable generosity of one of Sir David Martin Foundations supporters, he can finally move on with his life free of pain and drugs. Below is an excerpt from his letter.

“I am writing to say thanks for giving me the opportunity to get the operation on my hand done so that I am in less pain. I really appreciate all your help and support in making it possible…

… already I feel better within myself and now I am looking forward to my life ahead. Without this operation it would have made it difficult to cope and I can strongly say my life would have gone nowhere due to the aggravation and pain I was feeling which was affecting my whole attitude towards life but now I have a positive outlook on life which makes getting up every morning a whole lot easier.”

Young lives are constantly changing some quite profoundly but always for the better. For this young boy it was the belief and support from Sir David Martin Foundation and Triple Care Farm that turned this positive change into a reality.
