Dexus Property Group visit Triple Care Farm
Twenty-two of Dexus staff rolled up in the dense fog to Triple Care Farm. The Illawarra Highway was closed and the rolling mist was very thick and low to ground the rain was continuous. They must have thought it was an April fool’s day joke!
The plan was to paint an exterior and plaster boarding the log cabin. Plans changed quickly and the Volunteers split into two groups, half to do the plaster boarding and the other half to ‘spring clean’ inside the accommodation areas. The majority of the Dexus volunteers were young women, after a brief lesson in plastering they were eagerly up the ladders and doing something they had never done before, plastering walls! There was lots of chatter and laughter from the girls as they worked up an appetite before lunch. This was a wonderful opportunity for the Dexus staff to try something new, whilst helping with the much needed work that is continuous on a large property.
The log cabin was literally logs nailed to each other leaving long gaps where the bitter winds of winter penetrate into the rooms. Now thanks to DEXUS everyone will be snug and cozy. This was a great opportunity for Dexus staff to get out of their office space, and mix with some kids who have really done it tough with one lad especially keen to help and share his life story as he worked along side the volunteers.
After a lunch of sausages, salads and scones jam and cream it was back to work and then later in the afternoon back to their offices in Sydney.
Thankyou Dexus, your work will make a difference to all the youth that stay at Triple Care Farm!
