What an astonishing night! Las Vegas and the Archibald combined! Rappers mixed with Ladies, models with sporting personalities and magic with getaway.
This years Artworks Ball! Was a huge success judging by the crowd’s reaction and the numerous phones calls to the office on Monday morning!
Our thanks to the vivacious Catriona Rowntree (Pettit) our MC; she is so warm and has a great heart for the kids! Catriona flew in from Adelaide to volunteer her support to the foundation whilst proudly showing all at the fundraiser ‘her baby bump’. She then flew back to Melbourne the following morning. We are very excited and extremely proud of her.
Sir David Martin Ambassadors Geoff Huegill, Jim Williams, and Andrew Lock attended the event all looking very ‘men in black’. Jim valiantly helped Matt Hollywood on the stage with some of his amazing tricks, though sometimes looking slightly concerned especially when his $20 immediately vanished. Our fearless mountaineer Andrew Lock was leaving early the following day on his next mountaineering adventure. Swimmer Geoff Huegill just keeps looking fitter and fitter and is a great support to the Foundation.
Lady Martin’s friend Kamahl was also called to the stage by Matt Hollywood for an unforgettable comedy routine that had every in stiches. Supporters phoned the next day and said they had a sore jaw from laughing so much. (Thanks Kamahl).
Sue, Mother of one of our students from Triple Care Farm gave us her testimony, from the perspective of the family with a child on hard drugs. Her gorgeous, though somewhat fragile daughter escorted Mum to and from the stage and they were both incredibly brave to share their journey from the ‘hell that is drugs’ to her recovery at Triple Care Farm.
Triple Care Farm manager Gabriella Holmes took to the stage looking like an Oscar winner as she explained the ongoing need for funds for the Triple Care Farms in house medical rooms.
The auction and the raffle were a little down this year, but the support level and ongoing commitment from our donors has increased. The overall fundraising result for the Ball was very positive and we thank all for your donations, pledges and bidding.
Sir David Martin Foundation would also like to thank all of the volunteers that helped on the night, Dexus, Vodafone, the Navy, Event Management Course and others. Without your hard work and support on the night the event wouldn’t be the success it was. We are all greatly appreciative of your support and hope you enjoyed the evening. THANK YOU!!
We must not forget that it is those ‘least able to help themselves’ that we wish to support.
