Andrew Lock's Expedition

Andrew Lock

Sir David Martin Foundation Ambassador, Andrew Lock is Australia's most accomplished high altitude mountaineer and widely recognised as one of Australia's most competent mountain climbing and remote area trekking guides. His expertise as an international expedition leader and logistician to destinations around the world is highly sought after.

Andrew Locke has a project, to climb all fourteen of the world’s 8000 metre mountains. This would be done during the pre monsoon season (March to May 2009), finishing the project by climbing Shishapangma Main in Tibet. If all goes to plan Andrew will follow that with an oxygen less solo ascent of the north side of Everest.

UPDATE 13 April 2009 -    A Word from our Ambassador Andrew Locke

Well I'm sorry to say that I've had to cancel my Shishapangma expedition this season. To date we've been unable to secure a climbing permit so I decided that we just didn't have enough time left to give that mountain a good attempt, let alone go to Everest afterwards. So we're heading home and will try again in the post monsoon. It’s a disappointing end to the season but we wouldn't call them 'expeditions' if they were easy. So, it’s back to training, fund raising and planning for next season.

Thanks for your interest and bye for now.
