The best place to see all this if from the top of the AMP Building! The only way you can do that is by taking part in the October Fundraising Abseil for Sir David Martin Foundation.
This year the event will run over 2 days as last years event sold out. This year there are 200 abseil spots available; these go on sale Monday March 14th 2011. The event is open to all people aged over 16.
To become a participant in Urban Descent, log on to register at
www.gofundraise.com.au/-urbandescent . A $200 deposit is payable to secure your booking, and all participants are required to achieve a minimum sponsorship amount of $1500 prior to the October event. That is $200 plus $1300.00. Last year the majority of abseil-utely crazy people raised around the $3,000 mark with many over the $5,000.
People are encouraged to participate or support their friends, family and colleagues via sponsoring their abseiling challenge.
Sir David Martin Foundation Ambassador and Australian Geographic Adventurer of the year “mountaineer’ Andrew Lock will be there to encourage you.
All monies raised will go to The Sir David Martin Foundation to continue funding ‘youth crisis’ programs run by Mission Australia. One of its key programs is the Triple Care Farm in the Southern Highlands of NSW, which provides a safe & curative place for young people aged 16 to 24
These young people are struggling with homelessness, mental health issues, abuse, depression and self harm.
