SUCCESS for Sir David Martin Foundation

Commander Anthony Rayner of HMAS Success and his Xo Donna Muller hosted a cocktail party October 21st, 2009 on board HMAS Success for The Sir David Martin Foundation to help raise much needed funds for ‘youth in crisis’.

The ship’s company helped to raise more than $35,000 by hosting a cocktail party for The Sir David Martin Foundation, which runs three programs to help troubled young Australians salvage their lives. Triple Care Farm Creative Youth Initiates and South West Youth services (run by Mission Australia).

Two hundred guests including Lady Suzie Martin and the chairman of SDMF Mr David Wills attended the fundraiser. Foundation Ambassador John Mangos was MC for the night and Sotheby’s CEO Justin Miller was the auctioneer.

“CMDR Reiner told Navy News that “charity work not only demonstrates the RAN’s engagement with the broader community, but also makes Navy personnel better people”.

This wonderful opportunity to raise funds at Fleet Base East on October 21 featured a ceremonial sunset and a traditional ‘beat the retreat’.

Success’ cooks prepared a wide range of cuisine served from BBQ’s on the deck which included crocodile, emu, kangaroo and other Australian delicacies.

The Admiral’s Own Jazz Band entertained with jazz tunes throughout the night to the delight of guests. Lady Martin thanked the crew of Success’ for helping to raise money for the Foundation’s Triple Care Farm, which provides a 12-month rehabilitation period for troubled youth, all battling substance abuse.

Sir David Martin Foundation has enjoyed a 20 year relationship with the RAN in recognition of Sir David and his service as a RADM in the RAN and also the peoples Governor of NSW.
